Two day education USA programme begins at UL Cyber Park, Kozhikode

US India Education Foundation (USIEF) and UL Education of ULCCS jointly organised education USA programme begins at UL cyber park, Kozhikode on 28th January 2020. Mrs Santhi Mohan, Advisor- Education USA of USIEF Chennai inaugurated the event.
Education USA is a global network of advising centres across 170 countries which is supported by US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs is actively involved in promoting US higher education by providing information on educational institutions in the United States and guidance to qualified individuals on how to access the opportunities. Educational USA programmes will be hosted through USIEF.
As part of education USA awareness programme a seminar on Educational opportunities in USA was held. Mrs Santhi Mohan, USIEF Chennai handled a session on Opportunities -US education. Santhi suggested that 12-18 months preparation is required for students to get admission in US Universities. 6 months must be devoted for research on identifying appropriate courses and institutions. Funding support, application process, applying for student visa and preparatory work for departure are more important. United States will offer customised courses based on stake holder’s needs. Accelerated 8-10 months programmes are also available. All students will get one year operational practical testing (OPT) and 24 months post study work visa. STEM-Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics courses have more demand in US. Recently more non STEM courses are transforming to STEM through data mergers. Management, economics and business studies are considered as STEM course. Those who completed the programme will get 36 months post study work visa facilities. Santhi added.
While delivering the introductory note director of UL education Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan suggested that students aspiring for US education must complete GRE, TOEFL/IELTS, SAT, ACT or GMAT with better scores. Academic merit and good test scores will facilitate to get adequate funding support through Scholarships, Fellowships or Assistant ships. Chief Operating Officer, UL cyber park Sri. 150 students from St. Joseph’s College, Devagiri, Providence Women’s College, CSI Christian College, Don Bosco College, Holy cross College, Bharatiya Vidaya Bhavan and Vidyatmika public schools participated in the programme. As part of Education USA a Mini Education Fair will be held at UL cyber park, Kozhikode tomorrow at 4 PM. 12 US University representatives will participate in the event. It will facilitate students, parents and teachers to acquire more information on prospects and processes of US education.
